Rasmus has been traveling as a fitter for 7 years, and in addition to experiencing the world, he also experienced firsthand how engineers work and what their work entails.

Rasmus Schmidt works as a Project Engineer primarily with the development of software for our various projects and tasks. He has his daily routine at our head office in Hinnerup, where he has worked since 2016. Despite Rasmus' practical background and technical path to engineering and R&D, he uses his acquired skills and knowledge to develop PLC software and electrical constructions on our comprehensive and innovative test benches.

Rasmus graduated as an Automation Technician in 2001 and has for many years collaborated with engineers to develop automatic machines and systems at industrial companies. “At R&D, I am handed exciting tasks that challenge and develop me professionally. R&D is an organization that develops considerably, and it is the individual employee's responsibility to follow along and know his priorities,” says Rasmus.

Rasmus' desire to socialize is seen at R&D. Here, he has been part of the board of the Social Staff Club for two years. "It is very natural to me to participate actively in social things. Therefore, I was also happy to be a big part of our staff association and social events at R&D," says Rasmus. R&D's staff association plans many different events where employees are invited to everything from pool tournaments, go-carts, sailing, and dining experiences.

What is Rasmus' background?

40-year-old Rasmus is a trained Automation Technician. During his education, Rasmus was an apprentice at Danfoss' head office. Here, he worked within several maintenance departments getting experience with different disciplines and professions. His work at Danfoss formed the basis for and supplemented Rasmus’ knowledge and competencies, which he currently uses as a Project Engineer at R&D.

His education as an Automation Technician opened up many opportunities. Rasmus has been traveling as a fitter for 7 years, and in addition to experiencing the world, he also experienced firsthand how engineers work and what their work entails.

"When I stopped working as a fitter, I saw the opportunity to go in the direction of engineering and the more technical part of the projects, considering the competencies I had acquired," says Rasmus. This made him apply to the area of engineering, as he believed this would help him to develop professionally. “I do not just stay at a company because I have been there for many years and it is comfortable. I work at R&D, as my everyday work-life varies, and the company is large enough, with plenty of room for professional development through different types of tasks. I like to be versatile and do different things, which I have the opportunity to do here,” explains Rasmus.

Rasmus is originally from Southern Jutland but now lives in Hinnerup with his family. In between family life and work-life, Rasmus also finds time for various activities and do-it-yourself projects. “In general, I live a very social life with family, friends, and children. In addition, I am also socializing with some of my colleagues in my spare time,” says Rasmus.

What is it like working at R&D?

“Where R&D, among other things, differs from my previous workplaces, is the goal and the desire to develop. Both development of the company and development of employees. Things happen fast and things change constantly. So even though security is good, I do not feel that I need to look for other ways to get better - both professionally and personally,” says Rasmus.

When Rasmus started working at R&D, there were 50 employees. Today, there are more than 200 employees at R&D, and the entire organizational structure has changed. Rasmus adds that: “The relationship between us colleagues is really good. We communicate across professional groups, and even though we run fast, I can always go to the project manager or Axel, our director. This is due to the flat, yet very well-functioning, structure, at R&D”.

“In general, the work environment is really good. There is a good combination of young and old, who contribute with different skills, ideas and ways of working. The good relationship that exists among all the employees also means that we are good at helping each other and delivering the best results,” says Rasmus.

The openness and helpfulness among R&D's employees and the many social events help to create a good spirit that many employees experience in their everyday lives.
