R&D’s specially designed transport frame optimises Coli Schiffahrt’s blade transport
The synergy between external competences and in-house knowledge has led to an improved solution, which enables Coli Schiffahrt to transport more blades per shipping.
A competitive transport market has contributed to Coli Schiffahrt & Transport Bremen GmbH's decision to employ external expertise for the task of optimising their transport solution for wind turbine blades.
The transport industry is experiencing an increasing price pressure throughout the entire value chain as well as an intensified competitive situation. These factors have compelled Coli to enhance the efficiency of their transport solution for wind turbine blades in order to strengthen their position in the market.
As a consequence, Coli chose to employ external expertise from the engineering company R&D. The result is an optimised and more cost-effective solution, which enables them to transport more wind turbine blades per shipping than previously.
For us, the use of external competences has proven to be an extremely cost-effective solution, seeing that R&D’s expertise has produced a solution which significantly reduces our transportation costs.
Knowledge exchange creates new perspectives
The optimisation of Coli’s transport frame is a result of a close collaboration between the parties involved, seeing as their joint experience and fields of expertise have produced new perspectives and solutions.
“We have had a close collaboration with R&D in which the pivot of the process has been a continuous information exchange and knowledge sharing. This exchange is the tool which generates new knowledge and creates new perspectives and solutions”, Alain Akavi says, Managing Director at Coli Schiffahrt & Transport Bremen GmbH.
He continues: “R&D’s extensive experience in the development of transport equipment for the wind turbine industry has contributed to an optimisation of our current solution. We have provided knowledge of our equipment and the specific conditions, and this synergy has presented us with an optimal position to make the right decisions”.
Cost-effective employment of external competences
“For us, the use of external competences has proven to be an extremely cost-effective solution, seeing that R&D’s expertise has produced a solution, which significantly reduces our transportation costs. We have had access to specialised expertise, which has not only increased the value of our product; it has also enhanced our collective level of skill”, Alain Akavi concludes.
