Flemming is not afraid to take matters into his own hands, which is why from time to time, he can be found at our assembly workshop, where he takes the spanner and tests new ideas.

Flemming is employed as a Senior Project Engineer, and colloquially we call him our bolts specialist due to his extreme knowledge within the field of bolts. When Flemming is not travelling the world to advise and assist our customers, you can find him at our head office in Hinnerup, where he has been since 2014. Currently, Flemming works with customer advice, measurement campaigns where he is out measuring wind turbines, bridges and seafastening. Gradually, he has isolated his work to bolts, making him one of the world's best engineers in securing bolted joints.

What is Flemming's background?

Flemming is originally from Ry, but today, he lives in Hammel with his wife. When he is not helping our many customers, he likes to play badminton, just like he is also associated with Trygfonden's family house at Skejby Hospital, where he acts as parental support for families with children with a chronic or long-term illness.

With a previous vocational education as a farm equipment mechanic, Flemming was trained as a mechanical engineer from Århus Teknikum in 1991. During his professional apprenticeship as a farm equipment mechanic, his back caused him to consider further training as an engineer. Before Flemming was hired by R&D, he has worked at several different places. "I felt that I was in a job that I would get bored of because of the development at the time," Flemming says. Through his large network and knowledge about R&D, which follows from previous collaborations with R&D consultants, Flemming ended up at a job interview with us. And we are pleased about that.

How is it to work at R&D?

After six years, Flemming describes R&D as a workplace with room for differences. "R&D offers freedom under responsibility, and with our decision-making and organisational structure, it is not difficult to make things happen in a hurry", Flemming says. He also adds that the interactions between colleagues are top-notch and appreciates R&D's well-functioning collegial climate. "There is a huge difference between theory and practice", Flemming points out. Therefore, he finds it incredibly convenient that at R&D, you can quickly and easily get in touch with the decision-makers and get answers to your questions that allow you to develop further and test your ideas. And questions are important in R&D. We have a wide range of professional competencies so that you can get answers to almost everything. At R&D, you dare to admit if there is something you do not understand, as we are good at helping each other and making each other better. "You have to dare to make mistakes. You must dare to take chances and offer new perspectives. That's the way you learn", Flemming says. R&D's open and dynamic work environment, where there is room for the development of personal and professional competencies, ensures that Flemming is happy to go to work every day and is not shy about recommending R&D to others.
