R&D Test Systems as main supplier of new 7.5 MW test bench for DMT
The international engineering and consulting company DMT GmbH & Co. KG (DMT) has extended its test facilities with a new gearbox test bench for the wind industry, in the execution of which R&D Test Systems has been a major partner.
The new test bench marks a strategic shift for DMT, as they aim to increase their market share and performance in the wind industry. R&D Test Systems was assigned with the responsibility for all relevant mechanical assemblies due to their long track record of test benches for the wind industry.

A new territory
“R&D Test Systems has an impressive track-record of test benches for the wind industry. Their know-how and experience were the primary reasons why we assigned them with the responsibility,” says Mr. Frank Ronkel, Head of Gearbox Test Center at DMT Krefeld, and continues: “The wind industry is a very interesting territory for us, where R&D Test Systems has been a competent collaborator”.
The project was initiated in 2018 and included design and engineering of the components, manufacturing, shipment and installation on site.
"Due to their knowledge and the close cooperation between us, we are now ready to enter the wind industry with a test bench in a league of its own," Mr. Frank Ronkel says.
“We are very satisfied with the result and cooperation with DMT. The basis of this success story is, that we have offered them the best technical and cost-competitive solution, which fulfils their needs and requirements,” says Ralf Nieschler, Key Account Manager for R&D Test Systems.
A milestone
“The project is an important milestone for R&D Test Systems and specifically for our German departments. We opened the offices in Frankfurt and Berlin in 2018 because we wanted to achieve a more central location in relation to the German customers as well as the European market. The project for DMT shows why it is important to be close to our customers,” says Ralf Nieschler and continues: “The departments in Germany enable us to connect with local businesses and to show them what we can offer as an established and growing test system provider”.
