R&D gazes towards the aviation industry
R&D has secured an order for a test bench for flight engines, which will hopefully lead to multiple orders within the aviation industry.
When it comes to test equipment for large constructions, R&D has great experience. Among other things, the company has developed an advanced test bench for LORC, and has in general been very successful within the wind turbine industry.
Now it seems that it is possible to expand the technology to a new industry. "There are good synergies transferable to the aviation industries. The parts may not be as large as in the wind turbine industry, but the demands are very high and the effect on the elements are very significant. And we have worked on similar things before", Peter Ulrikkeholm says, Business Unit Director at R&D Test Systems.
Breakthrough via order
Currently, the Aarhus-based development house has achieved a small breakthrough due to an order from a large European customer.
"In this project, we have to develop and deliver a test bench for the testing of flight engines in collaboration with several international collaborators. We will supply both project management, design and the calculation of the system", Peter Ulrikkeholm explains.
"We have been searching for the right project, and after communicating with another collaborator we had this opportunity. It is difficult to be approved to deliver these parts, and our collaborator has helped us to succeed", he adds.
Peter Ulrikkeholm is certain that R&D has the potential to stay in the aviation industry. "There is a huge demand for our test systems and we have had many significant orders. But we would like to commit to this industry even more and to increase, and the aviation industry is definitely an industry we would like to invest in. There is a good synergy between this and our current areas", he states.
